Suspension

Objective: Develop a concept for a staircase that highlights the handmade glulam timbers against the striations of the the metal without using hardware components

The stairs are suspended in mid-air, hanging but still and stable. In order to comply with code, between treads, a rod hangs lower than the rest, keeping with the stair’s language. The grain of the wood runs perpendicular to the vertical rods. The effect is simplicity in suspension.
